Together Sharing Food Building Community and Solving Hunger
Together Sharing Food Building Community and Solving Hunger
With a humble beginning we began helping to solve hunger along the Oregon Coast in 2019. We looked out at the need in the rural coastal communities and saw a growing need at food banks and food pantries. We founded the North Coast Community Food Project serving Clatsop County up north. After moving to Newport late 2019, we see the same need here in and around Newport. We have a personal family story of years of food insecurity and hunger, but this is not about our family, it's about our community. Our mission is simple. Get the food to where it needs to go. Food Banks, Food Pantries and most important, to the families throughout our community who need it the most.
You want to help, and we make it easy. We have many ways you can GET INVOLVED today!

We distribute our re-usable bags to households who volunteer as a Food Donor. The process is amazingly simple. We will mail you our re-usable bags, introduction packet and "most needed items list." Throughout the month simply take your re-usable bag with you to the grocery store and collect items from our "most needed items list."
Then once a month, the last Tuesday of each month, our team of volunteers will pick up your food donor bag, leave a new one for the next month and transport the food to food pantries throughout Newport.
It's that simple!
Being a volunteer Neighborhood Coordinator is one of our most important volunteer opportunities. This is where the Food Project really begins. Being a volunteer Neighborhood Coordinator is amazingly simple. You simply sign up new food donors by starting with who you know. You can sign up new food donors via social media with friends in the area. You can go door to door in your neighborhood to sign up new food donors. You can also sign up new food donors at your place of employment.
Each donor gets one of our re-usable bags to take shopping with them to collect food and other essential items from our list of "most needed items." Once a month, the last Tuesday of each month on Pickup Day, Neighborhood Coordinators and Food Project Volunteers re-visit the food donors to collect the bags, which will then be transported to the nearest food pantry here in Newport.
It's that simple!
On the last Tuesday of each month we need volunteers to assist our Neighborhood Coordinators on Pickup Day in collecting and transporting the filled Food Donor bags to the nearest food pantry.
It's that simple!
